Expert braiding artist Taiba Akhuetie believes modern Black hair traditions go far beyond grooming and upkeep. In her eyes, beauty and artistry are intertwined into each braid, loc, and sew-in. Some may ask: Why employ straight, fake hair as an ode to Black hair traditions?
